Elemental LED Sponsors LED Contest with Do-It-Yourself Powerhouse Instructables

Elemental LED Contest at Instructables.comElemental LED welcomes the greater maker community to enter a project that includes at least one LED by August 30th to the contest at Instructables.com

Elemental LED, a San Francisco Bay Area-based LED lighting company, launched an LED contest on July 19, 2012 with the popular do-it-yourself site, Instructables.com. All contest entries must include at least one LED and can be submitted at the LED contest page at Instructables.com. “It can be small or truly epic.  We want to see new and unique ways people are using LEDs,” says Carley Jacobson, Instructables Contest Manager.

Instructables is a popular web documentation platform where web community members share what they made and how they made it. Projects from a wide array of topics are featured on the site from Food to Technology. Instructables receives 15 million unique visitors a month and reaches over a million subscribers through their newsletter with new projects being posted every day.

“The Instructables community has been an effective way of sharing our staff’s LED DIY projects, so we thought a contest would be a great way to see what other people are creating with LEDs while giving away prizes,” says Rachel Agana, Social Media Marketing Assistant at Elemental LED.

Elemental LED will provide all the prizes for the contest winners. One grand-prize winner will receive a PAR 64 RGB LED Wall Washer, a spool of High Density RGB LED Strip Light and an Apollo Jammer LED Music Controller. Three first-prize winners will win a spool of High Density RGB LED Strip Light and an Apollo Jammer. Ten runners up will receive an Apollo Jammer. The Apollo Jammer is a small and portable, plug-and-play LED music controller that can instantly create a light show to the beat of the music.

“We think the Instructables community will have a lot of fun with the Apollo Jammer and we hope it will inspire the winners to incorporate it into their future DIY projects, ” says Agana. The Elemental LED Instructables page includes projects showcasing the versatility of the Apollo Jammer including using it with an electric guitar, a video game console and several unique lamps. Elemental LED will be posting a new LED DIY project every Thursday during the span of the contest.

“Elemental LED is really a unique partner because not only do they have an Instructables page, but they have posted a lot of popular content that has been featured on our homepage,” says Jacobson.

“Everyone at Elemental LED is excited to see the entries roll in and several staff members have already signed up to be on the voting panel,” says Charlotte Dick, Marketing Manager at Elemental LED.

Multiple entries are accepted, but each entrant can only win one prize. All entries are due 11:59 PT, August 30, 2012. Full details can be viewed on the contest page at www.instructables.com/contest/elementalled/.
